Conservation Work Around Sri Lanka

Plongeurs Du Monde

Since the 2004 tsunami we have worked with the charity Plongeurs Du Monde to provide diving experience to children affected by the tsunami. The aim is to help children recover from the trauma of the tsunami and increase understanding of marine conservation among local children so the next generation look after the ocean.

Poseidon Diving Station is situated in the marine sanctuary at Hikkaduwa. We work closely with the Wildlife Conservation Project to protect the fragile home reef. The Poseidon dive team organize regular beach and reef cleans. In partnership with Plongeurs Du Monde we involve local children, encouraging them to take pride in our local environment and help to look after it.

Working together with marine park rangers we monitor turtle nests, moving eggs to the nearby turtle sanctuary when the nest is threatened with flooding, and looking after sick turtles when needed.
